Shopping these days is much easier and offers more variety compared to days long ago. There’s an endless supply of choices, and newer conveniences hit the market every day. Case in point: wines. You can now purchase wine in small containers with a resealable top or a 4 pack of small bottles. I no longer have to find room in my refrigerator for that big bottle of wine I had to buy just to use a cupful in a recipe. If you’re not a wine drinker, like myself, you will find these new convenient sizes for only a few dollars as a great convenience.
Stocking your pantry with some basic items will keep you from having to run to the store every time you cook. I’m a very thrifty shopper and tend to buy many items from dollar stores as I usually don’t have a preference for brand name products. The 99 Cent Only® store is the only dollar store in my area that also stocks fruits, vegetables, dairy, frozen foods, and even chicken breast, thighs and salmon in perfect single portion packages. Ideal for a solo cooktician such as myself!
Below you’ll find what I stock in my pantry and cupboards. This isn’t meant to be an all-inclusive inventory, but it is a great place to start as you’ll use a lot of these items in my recipes, and hopefully in the new ones you invent. Feel free to add your favorites and go-to items as you see fit. (Hover over a box below to see the items for that category.)
